A True Workout: Dismantling Philips Omnidiagnost & Multidiagnost Eleva

When the Workshop Turns Into a Gym

Some people lift weights at the gym. We lift imaging systems in the workshop. Recently, our “fitness program” involved dismantling two Philips heavyweights: the Omnidiagnost and the Multidiagnost Eleva.

Both systems have seen years of service in radiology departments, and both tested our endurance as much as they tested patients’ bones. Taking them apart felt like a mix of engineering, archaeology, and a full-body workout.

The Heavy Lifts

  • Philips Omnidiagnost:
    • The SRO 0950 ROT 350 X-ray tube: the heavyweight champion of the day. Getting it out was the equivalent of deadlifting after a long shift.

    • Plus: detectors, image intensifier, generator cabinet contents, power supplies, control consoles, and sensors.

  • Philips Multidiagnost Eleva:

    • The SRM 0608 ROT-GS 505 X-ray tube: another tough opponent, but eventually we won the match.

    • Along with generator electronics, operator panels, detectors, and plenty of smaller but essential parts.

By the time we finished, our workshop looked like a training ground scattered with Philips “weights” — tubes, boards, and panels neatly stacked instead of barbells and dumbbells.

Why It Matters

  • Rare OEM Parts: Systems like the Omnidiagnost and Multidiagnost Eleva are still in daily use, and sourcing original components like the SRO 0950 ROT 350 or SRM 0608 ROT-GS 505 can be tough.

  • Cost Efficiency: Used spare parts allow hospitals and service providers to keep imaging systems running without exhausting their budgets.

  • Fast Availability: Downtime is costly — having detectors, generator boards, and tubes ready to ship saves valuable time.

  • Sustainability: Instead of scrapping entire systems, we make sure useful parts stay in circulation.

Our “Workout Results”

After hours of lifting, unscrewing, testing, and cataloguing, the result wasn’t six-pack abs but something even better: a warehouse full of hard-to-find Philips spare parts. And while we may not need a gym membership anymore, we do have plenty of valuable components ready for the next service request.
